June 19, or Juneteenth, represents Independence Day for African Americans. People across the country recognize and honor this day by celebrating the emancipation of people who were enslaved dating back to June 19, 1865.
This year’s Juneteenth event will be an array of educational fun, cultural activities, food and live entertainment produced by the leaders in our Coachella Valley community, and outside organizations.
